From the Iron Ore Train to the Great Mosque of Djenné, she discovered the continent’s cultural diversity and indulged in the local cuisine along the way.

Tour d’Afrique: An Epic Cycle Tour from Cairo to Cape Town

On today’s episode we are joined by intrepid adventure, Kristen McAdam, who indulges us with stories from her 12,000km Tour d’Afrique. One of the longest cycle tours in the world, the epic 4-month expedition travels through 10 countries in eastern Africa, from Cairo to Cape Town. Tune in as Kristen narrates her journey cycling through diverse topographies, vibrant cities and amongst wildlife. 

With little cycling experience, Kristen took on this challenge at the age of 22, learning the ropes along the way. Letting fear propel her, Kristen successfully completed the extensive bike tour. Forging connection and making life-long memories along the way, Kristen coins this adventure as one of the most incredible experiences of her lifetime. Offering inspiration and countless anecdotes, this wonderful episode is not one you are going to want to miss. If there is one thing to take away from this podcast, its to “just do it, don’t question it, don't worry about it”.

Walking Morocco: From Agadir to Tangier

In today’s episode of the podcast we are joined by James Scanlan, an avid adventure traveller and author of A Moroccan Journey: Agadir to Tangier on Foot. Seeking an adventure before settling down, James found inspiration through Alastair Humphreys and decided to walk along the coast of Morocco– from Agadir to Tangier. 

Labelling himself as an introvert, James challenged himself to get out of his comfort zone. Ditching the tent and deciding to couch surf instead, James connected with kind locals and immersed himself in Morocco's rich culture.

What’s it like to have an Emergency Backcountry Rescue?

On this episode, we welcome back Jonathan Skinnider to the podcast, who shares with us his most recent backcountry skiing adventure near Nelson, British Columbia. Setting out for a beautiful day of backcountry skiing with a friend, Jonathan took a fall in a secluded mountain basin– ultimately breaking his ankle. Luckily, Jonathan had set up his Garmin inReach, a satellite communicator,  the day before heading out to the mountains, enabling him to easily alert Search and Rescue, who ultimately deployed a helicopter rescue. 

Learn more about Johnathan’s backcountry rescue and the training he had previously completed that had a hand in his calm approach to the situation. An electrifying experience, backcountry expeditions pose inherent risks; thus proper preparation and education are imperative. Cycling Across Canada

Find out what cycle touring across Canada involves on this exciting episode of the podcast! Today we are joined by bike touring aficionado and 10Adventures contributor, Jacob Grover. An intrepid adventurer who can’t seem to sit still, Jacob has been cycle touring, trail running, and backcountry skiing for years! In the summer of 2020, an impulsive decision to cycle tour across Canada led Jacob and his friends from the Pacific to the Atlantic. 

Starting in Victoria at mile 0, the group headed east. Astonished by the warm hospitality, even during the pandemic, Jacob was inspired by the welcomeness of strangers along the way. Motivated by the ever-changing topographies and breathtaking scenery, notably along the North Shore of Lake Superior,  Jacob and his friends made it all the way to the Maritimes before encountering a roadblock, literally. Tune in to learn more about Jacob’s cross-country cycle tour and you’ll be both inspired and entertained by the narration of his epic journey.

The Wonders of Gorilla Trekking

Join us on this exciting episode of the podcast as we discover the wonders of wildlife trekking from an experienced adventurer. This week our co-host Karin is joined by Michele, a 10Adventures community contributor and avid explorer who shares with us her incredible experiences trekking with gorillas, lemurs, and chimpanzees.
